Villa Kubu has a long established reputation for privacy. (and uncommon villas, that are a far cry from the mainstream. The owner has lovingly built each individualist villa one at a time over a twelve year period and today there are 14 individual homes. Don’t expect cookie cutter plunge pools and mass produced Balinese furnishings and fittings. Each villa here has its own personality as unique as the Australian owner and all come with their own enchanted gardens and swimming pools. In today’s world privacy is one of life’s greatest luxuries and Villa Kubu is infamous for it’s three flag service signals that are stationed just outside your front gate that ensure your wish is the staff’s command. Yellow signifies to the staff that you are in residence, green means please service immediately, “champagne and nibbles are required”, and red means please, under no circumstances, disturb us. The three flag service signals are followed with the utmost respect and the friendly smiling service that is synonymous with Bali.

Every villa has its own large swimming pool surrounded by spacious areas for lounging that include thatched roof bales, (outdoor gazebos), that are picture perfect and can be used as an outdoor dining pavilion, a lounge area for relaxing and reading or a super spot for a massage for two. Each villa has a fully equipped kitchen that is stocked prior to your arrival with snacks and refreshments. Many of the villas feature outdoor dining tables and chairs for simply enjoying meals under the sun and stars. Some villas come with open aired dining rooms and open kitchens that make meal time a social occasion for everyone. Breakfasts are cooked to order in your own kitchen by Villa Kubu’s butlers. Every villa also has its own entertainment centre with i-pod speakers, TV’s and DVD players. Everyone loves the KUBU villas for their tropical and serene ambience and lazy laid back feel that lets you enjoy chilled out days and magical nights.

Villa Kubu has proudly accepted the Gold Tri Hita Karana award for honouring the Balinese design concepts of creating harmony between man, nature and the heavens by using natural local building materials. Villa 999

Glide across white stepping stones over the koi pond and enter Villa 999, Kubu’s newest, ultra-luxurious, smart, sharp and unashamedly sexy two-bedroom villa. A beautiful ‘joglo’ (Javanese wooden pavilion), enhanced with eclectic comfy sofas and custom furniture, forms the villa’s open-sided sitting room and looks out over the large pool to the balé. The generously sized master bedroom features a flat-screen TV, dreamy mosquito netting encircling the bed and an indoor-outdoor garden bathroom. The guest bedroom, also ensuite, is located next to the kitchen and, although smaller than the master, is no less sumptuous. This villa was designed for entertaining and guests here will certainly be wooed.

Villa 0 (Zero)

Villa Zero is very similar in style to Villa 999 but has an upper floor housing a 200-squaremetre master bedroom with indoor-outdoor ensuite bathroom and a large ‘lumbung’ (thatchroofed) terrace. The villa has been sumptuously fitted out in modern Balinese style. Downstairs, a large kitchen, dining room, living room and ensuite bedroom all overlook the generously sized pool, and numerous ‘surprise’ gardens and terraces delight the eye. Villa Zero is a perfect villa for those who are looking to get away from it all or to entertain in lavishly appointed surroundings.
