Petanu River Villa in Ubud, Bali, is situated at the far edge of a sleepy wood carvers’ village just 10 minutes southeast of the bustling arts centre of Ubud. Perched on a hill overlooking the scenic Petanu River, we offer you an alternative holiday accommodation in the form of a unique and private residence. Built in a purist modern style combining elements of Bauhaus, Japanese and Indonesian design, it provides a contemporary space in a traditional Balinese environment.

Accommodation

There are three double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom and private balcony which offers a view and lots of privacy. The unique open plan lounge offers a spectacular view of distant mountain over the river, undulating valley, swaying palms and virgin forest as far as the eye can see.

The villa comes equipped with a modern kitchen where our cook whips up delicious Balinese, Indonesian, Asian or Continental dishes should you prefer to dine in.

Enjoy daily massages and scrubs in the studio a few steps from the house or in the bale (pavilion) overlooking the river. Complete your massage by indulging in a good soak in the large terrazzo plunge tub in the outdoor bath area.

The villa has many private areas for exploration and retreat. Read or relax in the bale to the soothing murmur of the river. Steps to the tower lead to our roof top lotus garden, another quiet and private spot which offers a bird’s eye view of the surrounding landscape and if lucky, a view of Gunung Agung on a clear day. Up a few rungs of steps from here takes you to the samedi or meditation tower room, the highest point of the villa offering 360 degree view of the surroundings. Chill out in the swimming pool overlooking the valley or sunbath discreetly on the deck in the landscaped garden.

Steps in the garden lead down to the river. Hidden by the side of the pathway is the plunge pool filled with natural spring water where you can bathe Balinese style or enjoy a refreshing soak amidst the trees and ferns. The more adventurous might want to have a dip in the river. Surrounded by lush green tropical vegetation and accompanied by the sound of the river, it is a wonderful and unique way to experience Bali.

Petanu River Villa enjoys the beauty of Ubud, Bali as it is tempting people to buy its cultural products. Visiting East Bali is about 45 minutes driving while restaurant and bars is within 10 minutes driving. Seminyak is about one hour driving to get you a cluster of eateries, chic bars and night clubs depending on the traffic situation.
