The Restaurant

The two story restaurant features a number of casual corners to enjoy a drink or a meal, and Ubud's only air-conditioned lounge. A walk-in wine room, creative cocktails and some very funky touches make this a memorable restaurant at any time of the day or night.

The Food
Lamak's kitchen offers Balinese, Indonesian, Asian and international food. Serving from separate a la carte menus for lunch and dinner, Chef Ifah's dishes retain the flavorful origins of the cuisine, with innovative interpretation. This is not fusion food by any means. Chicken Kiev maintains its integrity, although wrapped in Won Ton skins. Chili Marinated Prawns stand out on their bed of Green Papaya Relish. Brule is still brule, with a hint of orange and ginger.

The Atmosphere
Dramatic steel sculpture contributes riveting accents to the atmosphere against striking burgundy-colored walls. The decor is anchored with bold, punched-out steel panels mounted in relief and freestanding, embellished with Lamak's unique logo. Local stone statuary is complimented by unique resin sculpture in whimsical shapes, such as twin hounds illuminated.

The Bar

Windows float like clouds across the bar backdrop framing bottles, seemingly suspended. Vibrant yellow wraps the free-form bar, with contrasting accents of punched-out steel designs. This is the perfect place to settle down for refreshments or sundowners. Lamak promises one of the island's widest ranging wine menus for a restaurant, with a selection of bottled house wines to compliment specialty cocktails.

Wine Cellar
Lamak offers over 50 bottle wines spanning the globe from France, Italy, Australia, Spain, New Zealand, South Africa and Chile.

Cigars
Complete your experience of indulgence with a Cuban cigar. Lamak's discerning guests can enjoy a choice of cigars to complete their dining experience.

The Concept

Located in Ubud, the heart of Bali's artistic center, the challenge was to create a unique space for the enjoyment and indulgence of the pleasure of art and dining.

True to its very traditional Balinese name ( a "Lamak" is a carefully crafted element of sacred offerings, so intricate that it is only created for special ceremonial occasions), the restaurant incorporates local wood, stone, textiles and images. The innovative interpretation of tradition is reflected in both the design and food of Lamak.

The Balinese passion for the use of a myriad of bright color is reflected in the bold black and white Bali poleng of rattan lounge chairs, primary blue splashes of al-fresco tables, Dutch colonial style hand painted tiles, set against striking burgundy colored walls.
